Attending the “Paperless Office” workshop conducted at the Phoenix convention provided me with great inspiration and encouragement to keep this committee’s paperwork at a minimum.

So instead of providing each chapter with a hard copy of this committee’s guidelines, I am encouraging you to have your chapter committee chair access the information from our NAWIC web site. Download and use the information which is appropriate for your chapter.

This handbook gives you a calendar of when activities need to occur, as well as some excellent guidelines for programs, basic steps for a successful project, frequently asked questions from the chapter level, sample letters and surveys, and last but not least, Exhibit G, titled “16 Ways to Jump-Start Your Creativity.” Check out this particular exhibit as soon as you can!

Another method to reduce paperwork is to ask each chapter to include me on your newsletter mailing list. That way, I can pull your speaker and/or seminars & activities information from your newsletter to compile my report to national. If you have additional information you can share via e-mail (event registration information for example) please do so. I will then maintain a paperless file to use for my reporting, including (hopefully) producing a CD for distribution at our next forum.

Finally, since our regional director’s fund does not have the funds allocated to award prizes for competition amongst our chapters for this committee, rather than focusing on competition, I would like to encourage each chapter to focus on sharing. Share your ideas with other chapters, share your successes and share even those activities which may need some additional fine-tuning for future success. Use your newsletter so we can all learn from each other’s experiences. And the more you share with me, the more I have to share with all chapters in our region.
