This year, National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will celebrate the 13th anniversary of Women in Construction (WIC) Week March 7-13, 2010. NAWIC’s mission is to enhance the success of women in the construction industry. For 13 years, the focus of this week has been to spotlight women in the construction industry and for members to reach out and give back to their communities.

NAWIC promotes WIC Week nationally to raise awareness of the possibilities the construction industry holds for potential employees. The theme this year as shown in the special letterhead is “Building Bridges = Past < Present > Future

WIC week is designed to increase the visibility of women working in the construction industry, share our passion and encourage others to join the industry. Let’s see that passion blaze from Alaska and Hawaii to the Eastern seaboard and everywhere in between by heralding the news across your community.

This year the WIC Week Committee is aiming at 100% participation - every chapter

We need a strong effort by the WIC Week Chair in each chapter. And I know that means we also need dedication from each chapter President. I will be providing commitment forms for each chapter at APC. 2010 Commitment Form

On the NAWIC web page at www.nawic.org you can find:

  • a sample10-week execution plan to help you coordinate activities and increase awareness of women in construction, for example:
